Watching 33 villagers get baptized in a large steel tub one Sunday morning.

Paul Chinchen – President Of African Bible Colleges Inc. & Superintendent For ABC Christian Academy

Paul and Laura Chinchen have been missionaries with African Bible College in Malawi and Uganda for 22 years.

Paul is the President of the mission and overseas the running the ABC's three colleges in Malawi, Uganda and Liberia, as well as the operations of the mission\'s three support ministries — the ABC Community Clinic, the ABC Christian Academy, and Radio ABC which operates FM stations in Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Kampala and [soon to open in] Yekepa.

Laura is the Vice Principal and Curriculum Coordinator of the ABC Christian Academy, and also teaches computer keyboarding to incoming Freshmen students at the African Bible College.

The Chinchens met at Biola University in Southern California. Laura is from San Diego, and Paul grew up in Liberia, West Africa, where his parents were missionaries.

Kelly and Connie Dehnert – Professor Of Music & Theology / Instructor Of English & Math

Kelly and Connie are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) and Kelly is a Ruling Elder. Connie became a Christian while in elementary school and Kelly in his first year of college in 1981.

Though Connie had an interest in missions, Kelly dragged his feet over the years. In the 1990s Hugh Wessel (of Mission to the World) explained to Kelly the need for music missionaries. This sparked an interest in missions for Kelly. In 1992, working with Scott MacNaughton (Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church), Dehnert founded the Musik-Brucken (Telfes, Austria) for the purpose of reaching Austrian musicians with the gospel.

While in the Austria planning stages, the Dehnerts were challenged by Linleigh Roberts to pursue the possibility of teaching at the African Bible College in Malawi. Within two days of hearing from Linleigh while he was in Malawi, the Dehnerts had received confirmation that God was indeed sending them to Malawi to teach for one year whil...see complete profile

Becky is serving as the Clinical Director at the clinic. In addition to working as a nurse she is in charge of the nursing and medical services provided at the clinic. Becky is currently studying to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and plans to return to the clinic in that capacity in the future.

Bruce and Sarah Hanlon – Professor / Administrative Assistant To The President

Bruce has pastored a church in his hometown of Framingham, Massachusetts since June of 2000. Sarah is a 2001 graduate of U Mass and has worked as an executive assistant as well as in leadership of the church junior high youth. Sam and LeAnne have served with African Bible College since 2001 both in Malawi and in the ABC home office. Prior to being called to serve abroad, the McDonalds were educators in Mississippi. Sam is a teaching elder in the PCA.

Matt and Toni Moffett – On Loan To Evangelism Explosion International / Hope For Kids Director West Africa

Matt & Toni came to ABC Malawi in 2004. Matt started as the Operations Manager & taught Personal Evangelism at the College. Toni started as the Clinic Administrator.

In 2008 Matt & Toni accepted an offer to join Evangelism Explosion as the National Ministry Advisors for the country of Malawi. ABC Malawi has graciously loaned them to Evangelism Explosion International.

We visited ABC Malawi in June 2009 for two weeks and felt God\'s call to serve in Africa. We arrived on the field with our children, JJ(4) and Georgia Mae(2) in August 2010.

Stephen and Marion Spencer – Academic Dean & Professor / Social & Guest Huts Coordinator

Both Steve and Marion were raised in Christian homes, but come from very different customs, cultures and even continents. While Steve grew up in the concrete jungles of Southern California, Marion grew up in the real jungles of West Africa living in a bamboo house with pet chimpanzees. Steve and Marion met at Biola University.



Called to Africa in 1988, Steve and Marion, along with their 4 month old son David, moved to Liberia and later to Malawi. This year marks the Spencer’s 19th year on the mission field in Africa. Why missions and why Africa? Steve says, “I never set out to be a missionary. In fact, when I was growing up, whenever the missionaries came to our church, we snuck out the back door.” For Marion it was much easier. Jeff and Carson are both graduates of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. Jeff has a BA in History and Carson has a BS in Nursing. Jeff also earned a Masters of Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University in August 2010. They both like playing soccer and played in college.
