ABC GRADUATES - WRITING HISTORY!
Dear ABC Friends,
Warm greetings on behalf of everyone at ABC. Thank you for taking a moment to read what I believe is an important letter. We are keenly aware of the difficult financial situation in the U.S., which makes us all the more thankful for faithful supporters. HOWEVER, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THE MINISTRY OF AFRICAN BIBLE COLLEGES IS CLEABLY NOT IN RECESSION!
In fact, ABC is going stronger today than ever before ... and here's why. Just four years ago with only one campus operating at full capacity, ABC's total enrollment was less than 200 students. Today, our enrollment is close to 400—and we project to be over 700 students in just four more years.
It is also by no means an exaggeration to say that there is a tremendous demand in Africa for trained Christian leaders in all areas of service— church, para-church, government, academia, commerce and social services. Just a few days ago, one of our graduates—Mzithembi Mbekeani—walked into my office. When she enrolled at ABC in 1995 at the age of 16, she was the youngest student to ever enter the college.
"Your ABC graduates are in high demand right
now — not just by Christian organizations.
but by companies. They have an excellent
reputation for having integrity, being well-trained,
time conscious and hardworking."
Now, 15 years later, not only does she hold a degree in Biblical Studies from ABC, but she also has a masters from Lester University in London. Mzithembi has recently been employed by the Coca-Cola company as its Commercial Relations Officer. One of her first responsibilities was to organize the Coca-Cola
sponsored World Cup Trophy Tour of Malawi.
I've been a huge soccer fan my whole life--ever since the 1970's when most Americans still thought soccer was a communist conspiracy—so I was obviously impressed. I asked Mzithembi if she actually got to hold the trophy? She said only when she took it out of its glass case to present it to the President of Malawi!
But what I appreciated most about Mzithembi's visit was not the World Cup story or her position at Coca-Cola; instead, it was something she said when she was leaving: "You may not realize this, but your ABC graduates are in high demand right now-not just by Christian organizations, but by companies. They have an excellent reputation for having integrity, being well-trained, time conscious and hardworking." As she left I wished I had had a tape recorder because that is exactly why
ABC exists—to create holistic change. That's the answer to what Africa needs—and it's your gifts that keep ABC going, growing and producing the sharp, dedicated leaders that are now in such great demand. Your gift today will make a life-changing difference in a young person's life—perhaps an ABC student who one day will be making a continent-changing difference in Africa.
With love in Christ,
Paul Chinchen , Th.D President
P.S. Among ABC's many financial needs, none is more important than Student Sponsorships. Your gift today, large or small, will enable more students to receive a life-changing university education at ABC.
